October Painter BLAST Asheville
October 24-27 2010

Our Annual Fall Painter Blast will have to work hard to outdo last years! I can tell you that it was an amazing fun and creativity and art filled four days! We all bonded and had such a fantastic time being artists together and exploring new parts of Painter and painting our hearts out. We only have 14 seats! That's it...no more!

REQUIREMENTS: The Fall Workshop is not for beginners, but if you have taken one of my beginner workshops, you are eligible to come because you have been taught all the basics. Everyone else it is required that you are familiar with Painter and are comfortable with it. If you have any questions about this, please email me and I'll list the basics for you.

LAPTOP with Painter 11 and any version of Photoshop loaded
WACOM tablet

More specifics will be sent before the workshop.

Theme of this years workshop is all about TEXTURE and PAINTING!


 SCHEDULE
Saturday Night before: Wine and Cheese and introductions for early arrivals and can set up your work station

SUNDAY: Day ONE: Introductions:  Bring a folder on a jump drive of twelve of your pieces of art to introduce yourself to everyone.
Be ready to SHARE a little of how you paint with Painter! This is a sharing workshop and everyone will have time to show their basic methods of painting. Don’t be nervous about this! We all are crazed when we paint!

 
We will be WET Painting right away on DAY ONE!
DABS into BRUSHES LESSON!
30 Minute WET STATIONS PAINTING!

MONDAY: Day TWO: Out of the workshop and into the Fall Photography. Whether you use a point and shoot or bring all your camera equipment and tripod, this will be a treat for you all to visit a few key areas in the morning to photograph fall foliage.
LOCATION:  Carl Sandburg Home

Afternoon:  Back to the workshop for LUNCH and to process the images.
DIGITAL COLLAGE painting using Painter 11 and Photoshop

TUESDAY: Day THREE:
MORNING: 
GLAZING:  How to do it WET with real glaze and how to paint DIGITAL GLAZING
LUNCH
BEFORE we leave for the artists shoot one painting will need to be finished and left with Michael to print out on canvas to be ready for the morning to work on it.
After lunch we will go to the RIVER ARTS DISTRICT and visit JONAS GERARD GALLERY where he will do a LIVE and in person painting demonstration for us.
 
WEDNESDAY: Day FOUR: Morning: Gel coat your prints and prepare for painting on them if not done yet. They will dry quickly!
PORTRAIT PAINTING new methods!
LUNCH
Afternoon: EMBELLISHING your canvas using techniques you learned.
MARKETING:  We will get everyone ONLINE for a free trial for ONLINE SALES of your artwork!
 
Put all your weeks paintings on your jump drive and we will show them in a slideshow before you all leave so you can see each others work from the week.
Workshop ends at 5pm and a parting hour of farewells and then dinner with whoever would like to share with us!

Each night we have dinner at one of our local restaurants. Join us if you want and spouses or others friends are also welcome. Dinners are always dutch treat at the workshops. Your workshop fee includes breakfast, lunch, treats and water and coffee. You are welcome to bring anything you want to put in our fridge.

This schedule is subject to change and be updated especially as to the field trips and weather allowing. Before the workshop you will receive the most current schedule.

We have a hotel DISCOUNT price with the Clarion Hotel (this used to be the Holiday Inn you all stayed at) and after registration is received you will receive the info for the hotel.
